I love birthdays, especially my birthday. I always feel special on my birthday. I make sure that I'll celebrate the day that I was born, no matter how small or big the celebration is.

Last night, we celebrated my 30th years of existence here in our world. We has pastas, tacos, crabs, shrimps and beers! It was just a simple celebration turned grand because of my visitors. Most of my closest friends and relatives were there.

Today is my birthday! And during our mini celebration last night, somebody asked me "What do you wish for your birthday?" Hmmm it took me almost 5 minutes to answer that question since I think I have everything a woman can wish for: a loving husband, loving family, stable work. But I only have one wish and that is to get married in Church.

Earlier this year, my husband and I went to Caleruega (my dream wedding Church). Caleruega is ideal location for my dream wedding, it is also a place to get a perfect view of sunset. Insistence on static delivery of services without acknowledging changing needs is a mistake.

4) You may want to set up time with your absolute best clients--those you'd love to clone if you could. Delve deeply with them about how you could better serve their needs and improve their financial results. This may feel challenging and even threatening, but if you can tolerate the discomfort, you'll come out with exactly the information you need to tailor your business to current and future client needs.

Doing this will obviously increase your bottom line while fattening your clients' financial results. Take the information you get and immediately put it into action. Show responsiveness, and you'll cement your newly invigorated good will. It's OK to start small and to select visible target actions to show that you're listening. Hone in on anything that could instantly increase your clients' financial results. Perhaps it's satisfying a new need. Maybe you can save them time and/or money. Maybe you can tweak your services and make them a perfect fit rather simply offering what they had been purchasing.

Pfizer emphasizes need for vigilance against pneumococcal disease; launches vaccine for adults

While doing my apidextra review, I stumbled upon articles on new vaccine to fight against pneumococcal disease.

Pneumococcal disease is an infection caused by the Streptococcus pneumoniae (S. pneumoniae) bacterium, also known as pneumococcus. Infection can result in pneumonia, infection of the blood (bacteremia/sepsis), middle-ear infection (otitis media), or bacterial meningitis.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says that pneumococcal disease is the world’s number 1 vaccine-preventable cause of death among infants and children younger than 5 years of age.

Pfizer Inc. has officially launched in the Philippines its pneumococcal vaccine for adults aged 50 years old and above, amid statistics showing that pneumonia, the most common type of pneumococcal disease, is still the leading cause of morbidity and the 5th leading cause of mortality in the country.

In a press conference, Dr. Rontgene M. Solante, president of the Philippine Society of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (PSMID) said that Filipinos aged 50 and above accounted for 88% of deaths due to pneumonia. “Often, pneumococcal disease attacks individuals with compromised immune systems and these are usually adults who are already suffering from other conditions,” he added.

Dr. Solante added that individuals who suffer from Pneumonia and other pneumococcal diseases experience a decreased quality of life as it could also lead to paralysis, mental retardation, seizures, learning disabilities and hearing loss. He noted it is often the individual’s disregard for symptoms of the pneumonia, most often due to lack of knowledge of the disease, which leads to death.

“We highly encourage individuals, especially those who are 50 years old and above, to visit their doctors and learn and understand more about pneumococcal disease. Understanding is the first step to fighting the disease,” shared Dr. Solante. “Once individuals understand the disease, they will also learn that pneumonia is actually a vaccine-preventable disease.”

“This is particularly important for adults 50 and above whose immune systems have weakened leaving the body susceptible to more diseases,” says Dr. Joe Schmitt, Senior Director for Scientific Affairs (Vaccines) of Pfizer, and a speaker at the press conference.

The pneumococcal vaccine of Pfizer has been available in the country since 2010 for use in children ages 2 to 5 years old and is now approved for adults 50 years old and above in the Philippines since November 2011. The adult indication was approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) last October 2011 and the US. Food and Drug Administration last December 2011.

My husband and I made a very difficult decision to sell Pogi (handsome in english), our first car. Why? Since we got Rose, our second car, Pogi was set aside and left unused at all times. And some of our careless neighbors' kids made Pogi as their playground. In short, the car was damaged and some of the parts were stolen.

We were planning to have it repaired but it will cost us a fortune to get everything up and running. The mechanic said we need a new pair of tires, SPI fuel pump module assembly, battery, and more.

So instead of having it repaired, we decided to sell it a lower price. It's more practical than having it restored.

My husband and I have something in common - our love for music.

When I was in high school, I used to play keyboard and piano. I even asked my mom to buy me a keyboard worth Php50,000, but sad to say she didn't. Anyway, my love for music didn't stop there. I have collections of CDs/VCDs of my favorite singers. Posters, magazines covers of my favorite artists became my bedroom's wallpaper. =)

Then I met my husband, he used to play in a band. He was the vocalist and guitarist. He used to own several washburn guitars, but decided to sell some and left one piece for himself. I have to admit that I'm susceptible as anyone to the romance of gambling. I enjoy playing cards and, I have to admit, there are few things more fun than raking in a ton of poker chips after you've bluffed a table full of old friends at home, or newfound enemies at a casino. I love blackjack, craps and even the occasional relaxing round of Keno or slot machines. (It's not what James Bond would do, but then I'm obviously not 007!)

So, it's no surprise when young people -- it's usually the guys, of course -- after having some success at Texas Hold 'Em think they can make a living on the "sport" of poker and other gambling games. They saw Matt Damon and Edward Norton do so in the movie "Rounders" or, if they like old movies like me, the may have also fancied themselves to be Steve McQueen fleecing pigeons of thousands in pokerchips in "The Cincinnati Kid" -- until his comeuppance, that is. Life isn't the movies, however, and in real life "Rain Man" might have gotten thrown out of all the Vegas casinos before he ever had a chance to use his card counting skills.

(Don't get me started on this, but I want people to know that card counting is not cheating. The casinos have a rule against it because it works over time, but it's actually entirely within the rules of the game and is not illegal. That's why they merely politely eject and blacklist successful counters when they catch them. If you're actually cheating at a game, it's very serious business.)

The fact of the matter is that very few of us, however, have the skills, the patience, and the sheer nerve to really be a pro gambler. I've read about it and it turns out to be, like everything else, pretty hard work. That's not all, since you're often going for small, incremental wins it can actually get boring and like, you know, a regular job. I hate to say it, but sometimes the best job is an actual job. You can rake in the poker chip sets on your own time.
