I have to admit that I'm susceptible as anyone to the romance of gambling. My sister is leaving for Singapore! She will be working there for 2 years. At first, she was looking for Nuclear Medicine Technologist Jobs in Singapore but she ended up in a sales job. But she said it's okay! Since the pay is *way more* okay compared here in the Philippines.

Next year, I'll try my luck and I'll look for a job in Singapore! I know there is no chance to get a well paying job here in the Philippines. If not Singapore, I'll try Dubai.

Road trip to CWC

We are currently in CWC! Today is our official third day. And we are leaving tomorrow.Most of us will take the plane but some will go for a road trip. One of my cousins is not familiar with the road. This typhoon season and advent of climate change, when the need for evacuation centers has been part of our society’s disaster response protocol, Electrolux Philippines is rolling out its Wash-athon clothes donation advocacy campaign in Luzon, Cebu and Mega Manila. This year, Electrolux created the laundry mobile, which will tour Luzon, Cebu and Mega Manila to pick-up the donation and wash the clothes of those who donated. The Electrolux Wash-athon invites people to donate their clothes for the benefit of typhoon victims and other people in need. In return, Electrolux will wash the dirty clothes of those who donated!

In line to this, they launched a blogging contest where bloggers need to share the story of their favorite shirt. Contest duration was August 15 to September 15. I've read some of the entries and they are really great. Some talked about funny tshirts, others talk about how their shirt inspire them and more.

And the culminating event came. As one of the participant, I was also invited. And guess what I won 9th place and I took home an Electrolux stream iron.

So wondering what happened to our shirts? Those donated shirts will be given to the beneficiaries of the Electrolux Wash-athon clothes donation advocacy.

Futures trading is an age old practice that had its beginnings in agriculture when farmers sold their crops to a buyer, before harvest, at a negotiated price. If for some reason the bottom fell out of the market following the harvest, for example because of oversupply, the farmer was guaranteed his price and would come away better off than his neighbours. If on the other hand a storm had damaged many of the other crops in the area before the harvest and the crop of the farmer with an agreement survived unscathed, it would be worth a lot of money, but he couldn't capitalise on it, the person who had pre-brought his crop would. It was also a way a group of farmers growing the same crop could agree to only grow a certain amount in order to not flood the market and keep the price of their product stable.

The alienated father/son duo reluctantly team up to rebuild and train a scrap‐heap robot and turn it into a boxing contender. As stakes in the brutal, no‐holds‐barred fighting arenas are raised, against all odds Charlie gets one last shot at a comeback, and Max discovers that, win or lose, life holds more for him than he ever expected.

Exploring the deeper depths of the story, director Shawn Levy experienced it as a tale of redemption for three lost and forgotten souls. “The main characters––a father, his son and a machine––are each abandoned beings,” Levy says. “All three of them have been cast aside and forgotten. The substance of the story is about how this trinity has a chance of returning to grace.”

The idea of boxing robots was a provocative one for Levy who is widely regarded for his box-office hit comedies “Night at the Museum” and “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.” When DreamWorks first presented him with the idea for “Real Steel” he says he was attracted to the project because of the pitch from Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider. “They called me up and talked about what at first sounded like a crazy idea for a movie,” Levy recalls of his initial response to the story. “Of course I was super‐flattered, but I was on the fence about the premise. Then I read the script. What I found was an opportunity to make an emotional father/son/sports movie. That was galvanizing for me.”

Levy grew up not only as a fan of boxing but also as an ardent admirer of boxing movies such as “Raging Bull” and the “Rocky” series of films. “Even the not-so-great ones are awesome because there’s usually an underdog hero and you want him to have a comeback and to give his all and ultimately triumph,” the director says. “‘Real Steel’ is absolutely an homage to those boxing movies that I watched with my brothers fifty times.”

Although “Real Steel” is an action movie complete with visually remarkable American landscapes and big‐action spectacles, director Levy did not want to rely simply on either the wide‐open vistas or fantastic robot machinery in order to explore the relationships in the story. “For me, this movie couldn’t be just big and loud and cool,” Levy says. “That would have been unoriginal. The screenplay had a unique human heart at its core, so the movie had to be an interesting hybrid of badass action and scale, with a really sincere and warm‐hearted story that is ultimately about salvation.”

Opening soon across the Philippines in IMAX and regular theaters, “Real Steel” is a DreamWorks Picture to be distributed locally by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.

Bad day

Earlier, my husband and I was supposed to be in Batangas for our wakeboarding trip. However, due to some reasons, we weren't able to go. So we decided to stay at home, watch some movies. After 2 movies, I got bore so I decided to go for a swim, since my mind was already set for wakeboarding.

So when I got into pool, it was freezing cold! The guard told me that the pool heat pump is broken and I had no choice but to swim in a cold water. So I did! But after a couple of minutes, some kids came and kept on running and chasing each other around the pool, which ruined my mood. I just wanted to relax.

My misfortune didn't stop there. When I checked my bank account, I was shocked, I only have less than a hundred pesos and my client didn't deposit his payment. I called him, he said he will deposit it next week! Next week???? How am I supposed to survive for almost 5 days with P80 in my pocket?

When I was a child, I used to love sports. I remember when I was 12 years old, I asked my mom to buy me a table tennis equipment. But I didn't know how to use it. So my mom enrolled me in a tennis lesson.

Then, when I was in highschool, I was part of our volleyball team. But when I entered college, I had no time for sports. Maybe that's one of the reason why I gain weight.

Now, I'm starting to be more active. Thanks to wakeboarding. I'm starting to love sports again! Next time, I'll try to learn how to play football. =)

Though I still have a phone (E71 to be exact), I want to upgrade my phone to BB. However, I think it's not practical since I can still use my present phone. A photo printer for my future photobooth business, but I still need to buy lights, external HDD for the files. Camera lens, hmmm, but I want the Ultrawide lens which is too expensive. I'm really confused.

A fashion police should arrest me! Yesterday, my husband and I attended my friend's wedding. Supposedly, I should wear a black top, cream pants and a cream sandals. But I was worried because some "oldies" doesn't want to see wearing black in a wedding. I though I should wear a bolero or something white but it turned out like I was wearing a Marcus lab coat.

I checked my closet and I saw a light green off-shoulder top. I want it with my white pants, but unfortunately I couldn't find it. So I just stick to my cream pants. I was almost ready when I accidentally stepped on my slippers and SNAP! I broke my sandals and I had no time to have it fixed. My last resort is my silver sandals! hahaha!

During the wedding, I really felt uncomfortable with what I wore but I remember it's my friend's day. I just said to myself that people around me doesn't care of what I'm wearing. And I felt relieve when my husband assures me that I still look beautiful.

So Fashion? or no fashion? I still feel awesome. =)

Loooong Day

It's 7 in the morning and I'm still awake. Why? It's a long story. My day started 11am yesterday. My husband and I are usually awake in the evening so it's hard for us to wake in the morning. Around 12 in the afternoon, we were on our way to Access the Axis of the English Accent Free Workshop. I'll make a separate post about our experience during the free training.

Anyway, the workshop ended around 6 in the evening. So we decided to attend the KWC bloggers' party where my husband won some gift certificates from their bloggers' karaoke singing contest. I wish they also have some trophies for the winners. But still, it was a fun night courtesy of KWC Philippines.

But our day doesn't end there. We went to Resorts World for my aunties birthday. We arrived at RW around 1am and we went home around 5 in the morning.

So why I'm still awake? Well, after the fun night last night, I still have some work to do today. I need to finish and submit some reports to my clients. Sigh...

Celebrate Rizal's 150th birthday at Luneta Park

When I was younger, our family would spend our free time at Luneta Park or also known as Rizal Park. The park was officially renamed Rizal Park in Jose Rizal's honor and his monument serves as the symbolic focal point of the park.

Before I thought Luneta was just like a park in Tagaytay where you can ride on a horse with an english horse tack. Because we often ride a kalesa just to see around or tour around the place.

Anyway, I heard Luneta Park has been undergoing major changes. And they are preparing for something for the commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal. The Noli Me Tangere Gardens, with the Heidelberg Fountain as its centrepiece, will be inaugurated on June 12, 2011. The Heidelberg fountain is same fountain from which Jose Rizal used to drink from when he was in Germany.

Stage plays, musical competitions, art and cooking competitions and a musical concert are among the various activities scheduled on June 18-19, 2011 at the Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park.

On June 17-19, 2011, documentaries and film adaptations of the life and works of Dr. Jose Rizal will be shown at the Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium.

Guam's Underwater Surprise

If you’re a diving enthusiast, you have to experience Guam’s majestic dive sites – magnificent waters with ship wrecks covered with sea flora and fauna that will stay in your mind forever, not to mention one of the world’s healthiest marine preserves!

Guam offers clear water with visibility well over 100 feet (30 meters) at many sites, allowing you to marvel at its wide array of colorful coral reefs even from afar – dazzling sea stars, anemones, fishes of all sizes and hues, and assorted plants and coral life. From the boat, you can even spot an occasional dolphin frolicking in the calm waters. In Guam, the surprises are never-ending.

One favorite dive site is the Blue Hole, a natural coral shaft with teaming marine life and visibility up to 100 feet (30 meters). The red-tooth triggerfish, titan triggerfish, crocodile needlefish and various butterfly fish will meet you here to amaze you. Along the wall plunging into the depths, larger fish such as Napoleons, barracudas, manta rays and turtles swim. Even though the Blue Hole is famous for its deep cavern, it can easily be done as a relatively shallow dive.

A few hundred meters south of the Blue Hole is the Crevice, again bustling with beautiful fish and turtles. Pyramid butterflyfish will swarm around you when you get here. There are beautiful Sea Fans along the walls of the Crevice.

Barracuda Rock is equally captivating. It features great visibility, as do all of the open ocean sites along Guam's west coast, and a boulder-strewn ocean floor, sometimes harboring colorful lobsters. Its caves are filled with red squirrelfish, hatchetfish, and big porcupine fish.

Another interesting dive site is the Gab Gab 2 reef, which the Atlantis tourist submarine circles. It is one place where you will most likely see big fish such as giant trevallies, batfish, a nurse shark and a moray eel. If you look closely, especially in the round concrete structures on the reef, you can even find big stonefish.

Besides the richness of its aquatic life, Guam’s diving sites are steeped in history. The ship wrecks tell many stories that wait to be discovered underwater, including that of a German ship from World War I, the SMS Cormoran, which came into contact with a Japanese ship, Tokai Maru, during World War II. The Japanese ship was actually sunk during battle, and damage from the bombing can be seen on the ship. This is the only place in the world where wrecks from both world wars touch beneath the surface.

Equally interesting is the American Tanker, a concrete barge sunk after WWII. There are a few open rooms along the ship deck, as well as the superstructure itself, which can be safely entered by divers without special shipwreck training. You can find an emperor angelfish hanging around the rudder, and there are red snappers, titan triggerfish and assorted fusillears, butterflyfish and parrotfish around the wreck.

Safety is an upmost priority for the diving community in Guam. In the event of any accidents, there are two fully staffed recompression chambers run by the U.S. Navy and two hospitals – one military and one private.

Guam has dive packages for divers of all ages and booking a dive package is easy and convenient. Moreover, its lodgings and hotels are destinations in their own right. Indeed, Guam is a diver’s paradise waiting to be discovered.

My husband and I are invited for an overnight stay in one of the hotel in Manila. So I'll be offline for 24 hours..

1. My Laptop (incase there's an internet connection in the hotel)
2. home acne remedies (I bring this anywhere I go)
3. My Camera (for photo coverage)
4. Clothes (plus party clothes)
5. Chargers for our cellphone and cameras

It's been my habit to create this kind of list because I tend to forget some of the important things I that I need to bring.

Anyway, I hope there's internet connection in the hotel, so I can still update this blog.

A month after my husband quit his job, we thought we can survive. But we were wrong. Though we are still earning online, there's something missing. Still, there are some disadvantages from working from home working, you may find you have trouble with:

separating home and work life
the initial expense of setting up
domestic distractions and interruptions
isolation/loneliness
no social security benefits
there will be no paid holidays
no paid sick leave
Unpredictable. Without a firm employment contract the amount of paid work you receive could vary.

Overall, working from home can offer you freedom and control over your life. If you are lucky, the financial rewards can be high but, many home workers, do such work for the independence it offers.

Think carefully before you fully commit yourself to working from home. If you have a good idea work out a business plan and consider your options.

Jobs are scarce currently and leaving your current position could be a bad move. Still, there is more to life than simply money, and working from home could fulfill your creative ambitions and give you the freedom that you yearn for.

Philippine International Driving Permit

Philippine International Driving Permit is one of the privileges enjoyed by Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) club members. It allows you to drive private and rental cars overseas. Some countries may not require a PIDP but the car rental companies in that country may require one.

To apply for a PIDP, visit the AAP office near you and bring the following requirements:

1. Original and photocopy of Philippine driver’s license valid for at least one year

2. Two (2) pieces latest 2x2 colored ID photo with white background.

(The personal appearance of the applicant is not required to get a PIDP, however, the applicant’s representative must present an authorization letter and any valid ID and submit its photocopy along with requirements no. 1 and 2.)

3. For foreign nationals in the Philippines, present the original passport plus photocopies of pages showing identification and date of last arrival. If you are a permanent resident, present your passport and/or Alien Certificate Registration along with requirements no. 1 and 2.

Forgetfulness

They say when you grow older, you're becoming more forgetful. I'll be turning 29 this month, but I keep on forgetting things. Am I too young to have Alzheimer's Disease?

I hope my forgetfulness is not a serious matter that requires some medical investigation. Maybe a memory foam mattress will help me remember things.

I read somewhere that forgetfulness is not considered as the major issue, some memory jogs can spark the memory of your child. Forgetfulness is caused because the intelligence is not always connected to the center of organization and reliable memory. As we age, we may notice an increase in forgetfulness, but this is often easily remedied by writing things down, taking more time in organizing tasks, or just being more mindful.

Gawa/Laro: Toymaking Workshop Part 2

The Lopez Memorial Museum has teamed up once again with Pilipinas Street Plan, Knowledge Channel and Boysen Paints for Gawa/Laro: Toymaking Workshop Part 2 to be held on April 16, 9am-12noon. Open to kids ages 6-above, the workshop will have them paint a taka, a traditional art form of Paete, Laguna, to create a toy. The toymaking activity, complemented by a demonstration on how to make a taka, provides young participants with the opportunity to know and work with a traditional artform. Toys made by the participants will become part of the exhibit sale sometime October or December to be handled by Art Cabinet. Time to sleep!

Today, once again is another big day for me and my hubby. We spent the whole day working with our blog backlogs, but for now we will be pausing a bit to sleep. Then, later we will go out to attend some events and we'll go to the mall and buy some stuff on the supermarket.

Its been a while since we restock our supply of foods so I know for sure that it'll be a long walk for us. Afterall, that is our only excersise. While some electric muscle stimulator can be an option for us to stay in shape, I am still excited to spend the day with hubby to walk our way through the busy supermarket.

So for know we'll be going to sleep as we end this another yet happy day.

Hate Looking in the Mirror

For the last months or should I say years, everytime I in the mirror and saw nothing but fat! I'm starting to hate the mirror and the way I look.

I feel uncomfortable with my own body, I think it's time for a change. I just need dedication and motivation.

I need to change my lifestyle, start exercising. I'm thinking if I should take OxyElite Pro since I heard it can help overweight person lose the fat. Or I can try running, cycling, swimming.

I just need a combination of all the ingredients of exercise, diet and supplements to reach my desired goals.

Blackberry or HTC

I'm planning to upgrade my phone. Though I'm still deciding if I'll buy a Blackberry or HTC. At first I was eyeing for HTC 7. But my friend told me that she can get a cheaper Blackberry at Jeddah. She said it's cheaper if I buy my phone at Jeddah. She also mentioned that famous cigars like hoya de monterrey cigars are cheaper that Marlboro.

Anyway, going back to phones... will I get a Blackberry or HTC? What do you think?

Fear of Blood

I am hemophobic. What's that? Hemophobic comes from the word hemophobia which means an abnormal fear of blood.

Just the thought or the sight of blood automatically triggers an irrational fear that seems to overpower the individual, psychologically and even physically.

It can produce a host of worrying symptoms such as dizziness, feelings of faintness, a sudden and rapid decrease in blood pressure, palpitations, dry mouth and nausea.

I remember one time when I need to have my blood checked. I almost passed out when I saw the syringe with my blood. I tried to focus my mind to other things like the bovie beside me, but it didn't work. Until the nurse noticed that I was getting pale so she stopped and offered me some water.

I told the nurse that I'm hemophobic. Then she said that hemophobia is also linked with a phobia of needles (trypnophobia) and/or a fear of death (thanatophobia) which really makes sense. I'm afraid of needles and I'm afraid to die.

But she said that there's cure for this phobia. I think I need to consult with a fully trained professional advanced transformational hypnotherapist who has experience in dealing with this phobia

Haircut or not

My cousin's wedding is just a few days away and my husband is thinking to have a hair cut. I told him no need to go to the barber shop, he just need zero turn mowers for his hair since they are known to cut grass efficiently and might as well work with his hair. But of course I was just kidding.

I'm not against having a short hair for him but sometimes his hairstyle makes his face fatter. So I told him to use gel on the wedding day instead of cutting his hair. What do you think?

Nintendo 3-D released in Japan

The world's first 3-D mass market product has been released on Saturday, ahead of the worldwide roll out, in Japan.
Thousands of gamer lined up outside Tokyo Electronic Stores to be the first to own these one of a kind handheld gaming device. Nintendo expects to sell four million units of the 3DS machines by the end of March 2011.

This newer 3DS machine looks like much of its older version. It still has its two screen panels. The top panel shows 3D images while the button machine still features a touch panel screen.

With this release, I'm pretty sure that most gamer's belly fat will gloom its way once again as they play all day with its 3D features while on their couch.

Lose Weight the Natural Way

I have been trying to lose some weight and find it a bit hard at times to do such task. Next month will be my cousin's wedding and my plan is to lose some of my weight to somehow use a much smaller and tighter dress.

My resort is to find as many possible effective ways to lose weight or find some Diet pills that work fast.

Losing weight requires that you take in fewer calories than what your body needs. The needed calories that you don't get from eating will come from the fat stores you are trying to lose. You can easily achieve this by eating less and exercising.

Exercising might not be a problem to me but eating less might will be a problem. For some, they believe that a simple "will power" will keep me from eating more than my body needs. But I recently learned that deepest in our brains is an area called appestat. This appestat works like a coal that burns every time we crave for food and even crave for more when it keeps on burning. That obviously shows that "will power" alone is not enough as it involves a psychological effect.

Good news is that we could actually control what we eat. I will be trying some food combinations in the following days to help me with my weight loss program. The key is to eat frequently with fewer calories.

I watched Oyo Sotto and Kristine Hermosa wedding video 10 times or more already and I never get tired of it. I think it is one of the best wedding video I've ever seen. Oyo and Tin look great and so happy together.

Plus I love Kristine's shoes. She's wearing Chucks under her wedding dress! I personally think this is awesome. I know someone who wore Chucks under her wedding dress. But that was a comfort thing. She reasoned there wasn't any point in wearing heels (not to mention the ankle brace ) where no one could see them.

Liu Bolin - The real-life Invisible Man, an artist with the ability to disappear.

35-year-old Liu Bolin, from Shandong, China, manages to camouflage himself in any surroundings, no matter how difficult they might be. He managed to camouflage himself in a telephone booth, tractor, velobind, posters, vendo machine and more.

Liu works on a single photo for up to 10 hours at a time, to make sure he gets it just right, but he achieves the right effect: sometimes passers-by don’t even realize he is there until he moves.

The talented Liu Bolin says his art is a protest against the actions of the Government, who shut down his art studio in 2005 and persecutes artists. It’s about not fitting into modern society. Despite problems with Chinese authorities, Liu’s works are appreciated at an international level.

My New Baby

My aunt was convincing me to get a personal loan so that I can buy a brand new car, but I said no. Instead, I saved my earnings for at least half a year and here it is.

I left my job two years ago and started earning through my sites. Now, I'm my own boss. I get the chance to choose my own job. Working from home is less stressful as compared to being in the work office settings. I'm more relaxed while working. I get to escape the stressful office ambiance. Plus, I have more time with my family.

And I can say I made the right decision.

Now, it's my husband's turn to decide. He wants to leave his current job and he wants to look for some stay at home jobs or he will try to monetize his blogs. He told me he wants to be home with me.

I really like the idea but I'm a bit hesitant. I'm worried about our bills, loans and more. Since earnings from blogs are not consitent.

Since we are a big family, this kind of reunion only happens once in a blue moon. But we assure that this kind of gathering will be remembered forever.

More than 1,000 people are in evacuation centres there.

Earlier this week, I received a call from someone I knew in the past. He was mad at me for some reasons I don't know. He was blaming for something I didn't do. He said I contacted his brother-in-law, which I don't know, and according to him I said something bad about him. I really don't know what he was saying. I didn't even know the name of his brother-in-law. I tried to explain my side, but he kept on blaming me. But the worst part is he said something to me that really scares me. He is threatening me. He told me to be ready he might attack me or my family. Then he hung up.

I was really scared so I tried to call him again to explain and to clarify everything. I really don't have an idea of what he was talking about. I talked to some of my friends and they advised me to go to the police. So I did. I report the incident.

The police gave me some tips like installing security cameras within our house. The police also advised me to print the photo of this guy and give it to our condo security guards and village guards.

This is the first time I received such threat so please pray for my safety and my family's safety.

I just read on my friend’s Facebook page that her daughter had colds in the morning and now has cough. My friend is really keen on using herbal cough medicine. She combines it with pharmaceutical medicine since both of them have side effects one way or another. So whenever her kids get sick (she has a pre-schooler and a toddler), she takes them to their pediatrician, then to their pulmonologist, then to their naturopathic doctor. They heal fast because they combine the good effects of natural remedies and the symptomatic treatment of pharma grade cough medicine.

Well, my husband and I tend to agree with that perspective. Whereas it is being advertised that natural medicines are good, they are also expensive. And secondly, it seems that using natural medicines take a long time for a cough to heal. Our observation is that, you have to get worse first before you get any better. On the contrary, regular cough medicines tend to treat symptoms but the underlying reasons for the cough are not treated.

So it is our theory that it is best to combine both treatments so that not only you will heal fast, you eradicate the symptoms as well.

I'm not saying we are correct or not to be affected by these advertisements. But it is still best to consult with your pharmacist or doctor before taking any medicine.

When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the old Flynn’s Arcade—a signal that could only come from his father—he finds himself pulled into a digital world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years. Father and son embark on a life-or-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe—a universe created by Kevin himself that has become far more advanced with never-before-imagined vehicles, weapons, landscapes and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape.

At 18, Hedlund made an auspicious motion-picture debut in the pivotal role of Patrocius, the young cousin of Achilles (Brad Pitt) in Wolfgang Petersen’s “Troy.” He talks about “TRON: Legacy” in the following interview:

Q: What is the human story at the center of “TRON: Legacy”?

Garrett Hedlund: At the core of it, it’s a father and son story. My character, Sam, has been without his father for 20 years, and he finally gets to find out where he’s been. Although Alan Bradley, his father’s partner, has been there for Sam, he’s always wanted to know what became of Kevin Flynn. And in “TRON: Legacy,” he finally gets to do that.

Q: How has the overall world changed inside “TRON” ?

Hedlund: The world of the original “TRON” was fascinating, but what they've added to the world in “TRON: Legacy” is a grander sense of geography. There are lightning storms and the weather, and there are also the cliffs and the mountains. Add to that the off-grid terrain where a lot of these vehicles can’t perform, and it’s an incredible sight to fathom.

Q: Talk about the light cycle.

Hedlund: The new bike is incredibly flashy and cool, and it’s much more dangerous. It’s faster and it doesn’t have to move in 90 degree angles. It has a lot more tricks.

Q: What did you do to prepare for the role of Sam?

Hedlund: The benefit I had on this film was going through an intense amount of training, not just for the physical benefits to build muscle, but overall, for the character. I had training in Capoeira and parkour, and motorcycle training. But basically, when I step into playing that character, all of those skills have to be ‘new,’ from day one. The first moment Sam gets into this world, he doesn’t suddenly know how to do all of this stuff. There have to be the slight mistakes that he overcomes, and learning from that. Like the disk game sequence—there is something very unfamiliar with everything that he has to do, from the rules to the skills. He’s got to observe and the wheels have to be constantly turning in order for him to excel. When he sees another program ‘de-res,’ he thinks, ‘Well, I can’t let that happen.’ He has to find it within himself to become that hero. He has to have the strength and the defensive skills to keep proceeding from one level to the next.

Q: What was the hardest part of shooting?

Hedlund: You know, everybody always likes to talk about how difficult it is working with blue or green screen, dealing with just the imagination. But this film actually, to our benefit, there were a lot of grand sets, so we didn’t have to pretend so much. We had a lot of the physical things, such as the disks and the swords. When it was blue and green screen, we had great direction from Joseph Kosinski, the wonderful director, because he knew exactly what he wanted to do with what we were just approaching. When we were reading it from the text, we may have had a foggy notion, imagining what it could be, but he was always ten steps ahead of us. It was a game of trust, and we were never let down.

Q: What is your memory of the original TRON?

Hedlund: My memory of the original starts off with a very energetic and youthful Jeff Bridges, smiling and laughing. He had this crazy youthful side to him, in comparison to how we see him now, as the wise, older and incredible actor that he is. In the very first “TRON,” he’s a mad wiz with all this new technology that deals with the creation of video games. He’s also been perfecting a shiva laser, which ultimately ends up sucking him into the computer in the same fashion that Sam is in the beginning of “TRON: Legacy.”

Q: What about the original film inspires such a following?

Hedlund: I think from the original it was Jeff’s character Kevin Flynn getting pulled into the game grid and going on all of these adventures—it was incredible to imagine. Having to fight his way from one level to the next to complete the objective and find his way back out…it really was unlike anything else.

Matt Dillon Pursues Bank Robbers in "Takers"

Oooh Matt Dillon's new movie, I want to see this! I love Matt Dillon. 46-year old Matt Dillon look doesn;t change. I wonder if he is using anti aging product.

Anyway, his searing performance as a racist officer in the Oscar-winning “Crash” earned Matt Dillon an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. In Columbia Pictures' new action-thriller “Takers,” Dillon plays another cop but of an entirely different mold.

“No, he’s not like the guy in `Crash' at all. Although if you are going to play a cop, I would prefer to play one who is messed up!,” he laughs. “What I mean is, I prefer to play a character who is human, with flaws. Mostly in movies, criminals are more interesting than cops but in the case of `Takers,' the character is as interesting as the bad guys. He’s got flaws and I like that. He’s divorced, he’s got a daughter, and he’s an adrenaline junkie who is very caught up in his work.”

“There’s a sequence in the film where he’s taking his daughter to a museum on his day off but then he gets some information about a guy that they’ve been looking for and he ends up going on a stakeout with his daughter. He ends up chasing this guy down the street with his daughter sitting in the car, with her colouring book, next to him.

“Who would do that? You could end up getting your daughter killed. But that’s what I mean, he’s a messed up guy.”

Dillon's character, Welles, may be a flawed man but he is also a brilliant detective, dogged in pursuit of a young crew – played by Paul Walker, Hayden Christensen and Idris Elba - who specialise in spectacular heists and are planning a $20 million bank robbery.

“I really liked those guys,” says Dillon of his young co-stars. “And I think they work really well in these roles – they have a lot of style, in fact, I think the movie has a lot of style and with a genre like this, it fits together perfectly. It’s ambitious and there are a lot of characters in the film so it’s a big ensemble cast but I think it works.”

“But I didn’t really get a lot of opportunities to work with them as much as I would have liked – you see them planning their heist and I’m trying to catch them, so for a lot of the film we’re really acting in two separate stories. I did some scenes with Paul towards the end which was good. I love Idris’s work too, he’s great.”

Director John Luessenhop used multi camera set ups to film “Takers” and Dillon found the technique produced great results. “John handled the film really well,” he says. “It’s the only film I’ve done where they had so many cameras going at once. And from an acting standpoint there were times where you didn’t even know a camera was there. It also means that when you are shooting action scenes, as we were, you can get a lot done a lot faster. `Takers' was shot digitally,” he says. “And it looks beautiful so it was great to watch how that works.”

I love Christmas time and everything involved with the holiday. I am a gift-giver by nature, so this particular holiday suits me well. It is not like him to wear something that is literally falling to pieces, so when I was able to get a private moment with him, I asked him about the shoe. I knew he had been laid off for several months and I was concerned about him but he said that they were doing well, he was just wearing those shoes because they fit him so well that he could not bear to throw them away. Typical man in my family.

Trying to lose weight can seriously dent your confidence. Whether you are exercising to tone up or editing your eating with the hope of editing your body, it takes a stark realization that you don't like what you look like to kickstart the movement, and this can be a painful and emotional time. When you feel rubbish you are even more likely to look for comfort in foods such as cookies, chocolate and sweets, so it's important that this mood doesn't last long.

I've got a friend who's been trying to diet on and off for years. She's tried every diet in the book, but as much as she wants to succeed, she never quite does. Some diets just don't work, some have worked short term but are unsustainable, and some have left her in hospital. Recently, she decided to give her diet one last shot; her weigh has a huge amount of influence on her, and she doesn't feel she could be truly happy at her current size.

The target for weight loss had always been the big birthday she has coming up, so she could slip into the a-few-sizes-too-small gown she's already bought. It's been hanging in her bedroom for months, following the instructions of many weight loss experts; instead of inspiring her, however, it's just depressed her, and recently she realized she won't fit the gown in time. We've been shopping for another one, but it's not the same. It's not the amazing gown she wanted; she hasn't got the amazing body she wanted.

I really wasn't sure how to help until I found a special gift perfect for her.
